Abstract

Closure members, rolling cylindrical. - Valves for internal-combustion engines are formed with curved faces F and adapted to rock to and fro over a seating G so as to control an inlet or exhaust port E therein. The valve may work in conjunction with a poppet or other valve serving to shield the former from the explosions. Fig. 9 shows a rocking valve F adapted alternately to connect inlet and exhaust passages K, M with a cylinder port S controlled by a poppet valve Q. The valve F is held on its seating by a spring-pressed plunger W.
