Abstract
572,037. Paper &c. tubes. NEWTON, E. P. (Hercules Powder Co.). March 30, 1943, No. 5115. [Class 99 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] In a method of making interengaging screwthreaded tubes of paper or other non-metallic material, the inner tube 16 is formed by feeding a strand, wire or cord 20 between two strips of material which are being wound helically on a mandrel, and the outer tube is formed by winding two or more strips 42, 44 on a mandrel, the convolutions of the inner strip 44 being spaced apart,- adhesive being supplied to the strips as they are wound. In a modification, the external thread of the inner tube is formed by glueing relatively narrow strip material to the outer surface of the tube while it is being wound.
