In a process for the manufacture of a flexible hose, a profiled strip 4 of synthetic resin is wound on to a helical reinforcing filament 10 disposed on a mandrel so that the margins of the coils of the strip overlap and are joined together, e.g. by an adhesive or welding. The .hose thus produced has at least one helical, double fold between adjacent coils of the filament, and formed as by longitudinal compression of the hose, after winding of the strip ; the fold may be incorporated in the strip prior to winding thereof. The filament may be of synthetic resin or a wire coated with synthetic resin.
