Abstract

546,651. Lubricating fuel-injection pumps. C.A.V., Ltd., NICOLLS, W. E. W., and EVANS, F. M. Jan. 22, 1941, No. 871. [Class 102 (i)] In a fuel-injection pump the body part a is provided with three main longitudinal lubricating oil passages e, f, g respectively associated with the plungers b, the tappets c, and the bearings t of the camshaft d, a supply passage x associated with a transverse connecting passage v at each end of the main passages, an interchangeable filter j and by-pass valve k at the ends of the passage e, and a control valve 8 s at each end of the passage f. The lubricating oil may be supplied by a pump y mounted on either end of the cam shaft, the supply passage x at the driven end being closed by a cover piece z. The valves s are adjusted so that the pressure, in the passage f is less than that in the passage e. The passage f is connected by lateral branches o to the cam shaft chamber q.
