Abstract

791,865. Reciprocating pumps. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T. Dec. 19. 1955 [Dec. 17, 1954], No. 36540/54. Class 102(1). A plunger 3 is reciprocated in a bore 2 having inlet and outlet valves 11, 12 the end of the bore 2 being closed by a fixed plug 7 having a stem 7a projecting into a bore 3a in the plunger 3 which communicates by a longitudinal bore 7b and lateral passages 7c with inlet and outlet valves 8, 9. On each side of the passages 7c the plug 7 is fitted with sealing rings 10 which allow limited lateral movement of the plug 7. A number of such units may be driven from a common crankshaft.
