Abstract

285,675. Iversen, P. A. S. March 29, 1927. Two barrels in series; relief devices.-A fuel pump 3, 6 for an internal-combustion engine is combined with an auxiliary pump 2, 4, which, during the delivery stroke, maintains in the gland 7, 8 of the plunger 6 a fluid pressure nearly equal to the pressure in the barrel 3. The pressure in the barrel 2 is determined by the setting of a relief valve 10 controlling communication with the inlet port 14. Fuel enters the barrel 2 through a valve 9 and is delivered past the inlet valve 16 of the pump 3.
