[Class 135] [Also in Groups XXXIV and XIII] In a lubricating system for an internal-combustion engine a thermally controlled valve comprises a ball 61 accommodated in the cupshaped end of a bi-metallic member 56, 57. When the engine is cold the ball is tightly gripped by the member 56, 57, but when the,engine warms up the ball is released and the engine suction holds it against a seating 70 to stop the flow of oil to the engine. When the engine stops, the ball 61 drops under gravity into the member 56, 57, and is again gripped thereby.
