418,558. Refrigerating. GETRIEBEBAU GES., 65, Saalmannstrasse, Reinickendorf- West, Berlin. Feb. 15, 1934, No. 5068. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1933. [Class 29.] Compression machines.-A refrigerating apparatus comprises a compressor housing 1, an evaporator 19 at a lower level, and an oil sump 12 arranged beneath the housing 1 and separated therefrom. A pump 21 in a layer of oil 20 in the evaporator 19 forces the oil through pipe 22 into the sump 12. Pump 14 in the sump forces oil up the hollow crankshaft 6, the bearings being lubricated by transverse ports in this shaft. A return pipe 23 to the evaporator prevents accumulation of oil in the housing 1. Baffles 28 separate oil drawn with the gaseous refrigerant from the evaporator and return it through connection 29 to the sump. The evaporator may be placed at such a level that oil can flow to the sump 12 from layer 20 by gravity, and the pump 21 can then be dispensed with.
