Cam - actuated pumps; indicating action of; pumps with reciprocating and rotating pistons. - A lubricating pump comprises a piston which is rotated by gearing m, n and reciprocated by a cam o, and controls the suction and delivery ports q, s and r, t. During the down-stroke of the piston, lubricant enters the upper part of the barrel through the port q and is delivered from the lower end of the barrel through port t to a sight-glass which may be mounted on the lubricant tank. During the upstroke, lubricant is delivered from the upper end of the barrel through port r to the point to be lubricated, and is drawn into the lower end of the barrel from the port c, passage u and port s. If the pump is single-acting, the delivery passage is divided into two parts, one leading to the sight-glass, the other to the point to be lubricated. Specification 252,215 is referred to.
