Abstract
480,104. Knitting-machines. JACKSON, T., and UPHILL, K. M. Aug. 12, 1936, No. 22201. [Class 74 (ii)] A multi-feeder circular machine is provided with means for repeating at one or more feeders 13, 14 the selection of needles made at a previous feeder 12 without using patterning mechanism at the later feeders 13, 14. The invention is described in connection with a cylinder-and-dial rib machine in which patterning is effected by the cylinder needles only, and involves the use of pattern jacks 23 which are rocked by pattern controlled levers 18 but are held against longitudinal movement. Jacks 5, interposed between the jacks 23 and the needles, are selected at the feeder 12 by levers 18 and a pattern drum 15, so that some are pressed inwardly and are not raised by a. cam 24. To maintain the selection at the feeders 13, 14, jacks 5 which are not raised by the cam 24 have their butts 7 guided by a cam 28 so as to be held down while passing the feeders 13, 14. At the feeder 11, all the needles may be raised to clear their loops.. To allow the jacks 5 to be drawn down freely by the cam 28, they are modified by dispensing with the normal stop butts 29.
