Abstract
820,832. Knitting-machines. STIBBE & CO. Ltd., G. Jan. 10, 1957 [Jan. 16, 1956], No. 1400/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 74 (2). Patterning is effected on a multifeeder superposed cylinder machine by raising selected needles at a feeder to a height at which yarn is fed beneath their latches. Selection is made by selector mechanism and involves bits and intermediate jacks as described in Specification 820,831. As described, in a three-feeder machine selector mechanism is provided on the bottom cylinder at the main and one auxiliary feeder and in addition selector mechanism is provided in advance of the main feeder for effecting links-links patterning by needle transfer. Levelling cams are provided in advance of the feeders and are operable on a lower butt on the sliders and clearing cams are also provided in advance of the feeders and are operable on the knitting butts. Removal of the clearing cam at either or both auxiliary feeders as well as the introduction of one or all levelling cams at one or all feeders enables needles selected to clear a yarn fed at one feeder to knit or clear at the next without further selection at the next feeder although selection may be made at this feeder.
