Abstract

408,542. Hinges. McLENNAN, M. B., 122, Wilton Street, Glasgow. Oct. 27, 1933, No. 29847. [Class 65 (ii).] In a hinge for the leg of a folding table in which the leg is pivoted in a bracket having notches vertically and horizontally in line with the pivot axis, the leg is held in the folded or unfolded position by a blade-spring latch fixed relatively to the leg so as to bridge the bracket and adapted to engage either notch. The top of the leg 1 is fitted in a sheet-metal socket 2 having lugs 3 pivotally connected by rivets 4 to a bracket 5 which is fixed to the table frame by lugs 6. A blade spring latch 12, mounted on one of the rivets 4, passes through a slot 13 in the opposite side of the leg socket, and is adapted to engage notches 10, 11 in a quadrantal portion 9 of the bracket 5 ; notch 11 is shallow and bevelled, so that the leg can be moved from its folded position by light pressure, but it cannot be moved from the unfolded position without releasing the latch.
