Abstract

408,382. Hinges for furniture. VAUGHAN, E., Field House, Clent, near Stourbridge, Worcestershire. Nov. 24, 1932, No. 33213. [Class 65 (ii).] A hinge-joint for an article of furniture comprises two channel members mounted face to face on a pivot pin, one of the members having a projection and the other a spring latch mounted, on a pivot pin parallel to that of the joint, between the walls of the channel and shaped to engage the projection on the other member to lock the members in a predetermined position. The application to the leg of a folding table is shown. A channel member d fixed on the leg is connected by a pivot pin d<2> to another channel member a<2> fixed on the table frame A so that when the leg is folded the two channel members face one another. A spring catch b is pivotally mounted on a pin a<3> carried by the member a<2> parallel to the pivot pin d<2> and is adapted to engage a projection d<3> on the member d, as shown, to hold the leg in the unfolded position. A wire or cable b<4> is provided for releasing the catch.
