488,956. Stays for hinged articles. LANE, Ltd., P., and LANE, P. Feb. 1, 1937, No. 2843. [Class 65 (i)] Stay mechanism for a hinged panel 16 comprises a pair of stays 14, 17 pivoted at spaced points 12, 18 on a fixed member 10, the stay 14 being adjustably pivoted at 28 to the panel, while 17 is pivoted to 14 at an intermediate point 22. Either of the pivot joints 18 or 28 may be locked by wing - nuts in any desired position. A hook 29 pivoted at 28 and provided with a cam surface 33, 34 engages a stud 31 on 10 when the panel is closed. In another form, the stay 17 is connected to the pivot 28 instead of the stay 14.
