489,991. Hinges. GREENBERG, I. E. March 3, 1938, No. 6649. [Class 65 (ii)] A hinge for a foldable furniture leg 1 comprises a U-shaped bracket 3, fixed to the frame 2 and embracing the top of the leg 1 which is pivoted to it at 4, a catch 6 pivoted on one limb of the bracket 3 and slidable in a slot 8 in the opposite limb, and a plate 10 fixed to the leg adjacent to the slotted limb of the bracket and formed with a notch 11 for engagement by the catch 6 to lock the leg in its unfolded position. In the form shown, the catch 6 is formed by a pin loosely engaging at one end a hole in one limb of the bracket, the other end sliding in the slot 8 and being formed with a finger knob ; the slot is slightly inclined to give a wedging action to the catch.
