Abstract

402,098. Fuel-injection pumps. LOW, P. A., Gorswen, Warlingham, Surrey. May 24, 1932, No. 14752. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection pump, of the type in which a cylinder 8 is reciprocated on a fixed piston 6 through which the discharge passage 7 passes, the suction ports 18 are controlled by the end of the piston 6 and the relief ports 19 are controlled by the upper edge of an adjustable sleeve 22. The ports 18 open into an internal groove 17 and the ports 19 open into an external groove 21. The sleeve 22 may be adjusted by the governor through rack and pinion mechanism, or by means of a bell-crank 29, 31. As shown, the sleeve 22 may move in a damping cylinder 25 with a relief passage 26, the cylinder being formed in the base of a fuel reservoir in which the pump is immersed. Specification 298,257, [Class 102 (i), Pumps &c.], is referred to.
