Abstract

308,460. Salter & Co., Ltd., G., Bache, E. W., and Bell, A. March 16, 1928. Platen-roller couplings.-The line-spacing wheel is coupled to the platen by means of a spring-urged coned disc which engages a conical seat in a member attached to the platen spindle and is provided with pins slidable in holes in a cup or the like attached to the line-spacing wheel. In the coupling shown in the Figure, a sleeve 2, secured to the platen spindle 4 and a knob 1, is formed with a cup 5 engaging a cup 8 on a sleeve 9 secured to the line-spacing wheel 10. A seat 6 on the cup 5 engages a coned plate 12 secured to rods 14 which enter holes in the cup 8, a spring 13 normally holding the plate in contact with the seat. The linespacing wheel is released by pressing inwards a button 17, axially-movable rods 16 carrying the button being provided with a plate 15 for displacing the plate 12.
