Abstract

145,840. Etheridge, H., Richardson, W. J., and Bar-Lock Typewriter Co. March 27, 1919. Addition to 20413/13. Platen-roller couplings.-The cone clutch for coupling the line-spacing wheel C to a member B on the platen-roller, as described in the parent Specification and which comprises one or more levers D, controlled by a finger-piece F, for pressing together the clutch-members, is now provided with one or more de-clutching levers which are operable by the finger-piece to separate the clutchmembers. As shown, the clutch spring is in the form of a plate or wire E which is arranged with the ends E<1> abutting on the spacing-wheel C and acts as a de-clutching-lever when the finger-piece is pressed. In a modification, an axial clutchspring is employed and de-clutching is effected by levers which engage a groove in the finger-piece.
