411,031. Ink - ribbon mechanism. SCHLESSINGER, R., Hotel Bellevue, Lille, France. Nov. 8, 1933, No. 31137. Convention date, Nov. 8, 1932. [Class 100 (iv).] An ink-ribbon holder for placing on the platen of a typewriter comprises members which engage the upper feed-roller spindle and are adjustably arranged on the lateral limbs of the ribbon-holder so that the distance from the upper feed-roller to the ribbon may be varied. The holder shown in the Figure comprises two arms a, b joined by a back-piece c which may be in one piece or in two pieces telescoping into each other or into a sleeve m, so that the holder may be adjusted for different lengths of ink ribbon. Slides fare adjustably mounted on the arms by means of slots g and screws h, and are provided with notched projections d to engage the upper feed-roller spindle. For taking more than one copy, a second holder fitting under the first is provided with lugs k to engage the back piece of the main holder. The holder may be provided with two additional ribbon - holding arms arranged to lie symmetrically on the other side of the platen so that either of two ribbons of different colour may be used by simply reversing the holder. Additional ribbon-arms may also be pivoted to the back piece. The ribbons may be placed over teeth on the arms or may be provided with flat, tubular, metal end-pieces which may be placed over the ends of the arms a, b, so that the ribbons themselves are easily reversible.
