Abstract

304,219. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., Fellowes, F., and Nicholas, F. A. Oct. 14, 1927. Endless-track vehicles. - A detachable tread band for tyres, applicable also as an endless-track or as a covering for the existing track of an endlesstrack vehicle, is formed of one or more pieces of rubber, rubberized cord or rubberized fabric, each crossing the tyre tread obliquely more than once without crossing the wheel rim and secured by means independent of the rim. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the band is constituted by a continuous strip 2 looped to side-chains 4, the end of the strip being connected by a. buckle 3. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, adapted for use on twin tyres, the device consists of a lattice-like band, with or without a backing. Metal studs 7 may be fitted at the crown portions of the band. In this form, the space between the tyre treads is closed by a continuous portion 8 fitted with a buckle 9. Fig. 6 shows a similar device applied as an endlesstrack.
