Abstract
350,797. Endless-track vehicles; tread chains. SHEPPEE MOTOR CO., Ltd., Thomas Street, Lawrence Street, and JOWITT, S. G., 104, Lawrence Street, York. July 30, 1930, No. 23039. [Class 144 (ii).] In a detachable tread device comprising spaced shoes straddling the wheel tyre (or tyres) and connected by side chains, the adjustment of the side chains is effected by devices provided on the shoes. The invention is shown applied to a pair of wheels as fitted on twin back-axle vehicles. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the shoes a are fitted with pins a<1> .. a<4> adapted to receive the end links of the chain sections b, cover-plates c being secured by set-screws a'. In the modification shown in Figs. 6 and 7, the shoes are formed with hooks a<9> . . a<12> to receive the chain links which are secured by plates c<2>.
