Abstract

325,322. Jackson, J. A. Dec. 7, 1928. Tread bands. - A non-skid band 1 of the kind described in Specification 14435/93 is fastened around the tyre and rim by press-stud fasteners, there being more press-stud elements of one kind provided than of the other kind, to ensure adjustability. The band may be constructed from a plurality of superposed strips of canvas or the like vulcanized together with intervening layers of rubber, and provided at the central portion with a plurality of rubber projections 2 to form a non-skid surface. The band is mounted around the tyre 3, the ends of the band overlapping and being adjustably secured beneath the rim 4 of the wheel by means of the press-stud fasteners 5, 6, Fig. 3. Studs of steel or other suitable material may be interposed between, or substituted for, the rubber projections.
