Lift valves. - A screw-actuated lift valve 3 is balanced in respect of iniet pressure, as indicated by the arrow, by a piston 4 of similar diameter. The piston slides through packing 8 supported above and below by metal rings 6, 7 and compressed by a screwed ring 9. The screwed spindle is formed with a collar 15 rotatably disposed in a recess in the cover 10 to prevent movement axially.
