Lift valves; casings; leakage, preventing. - A screw-down valve opened and closed by a screw action between a cap-member e and a supply conduit a from which the casing k is removable, has the spindle packed by a sealing-member s located by a one-part securing-means which is an integral part of the main casing. The embodiment shown comprises an elastic ring with a depending skirt which is held in contact with the valve spindle by fluid pressure ; the ring is secured in a groove, as shown, in the integral neck of the casing. The casing is mounted on the supply conduit by means of a flanged bayonet-joint connexion i, j, and the handle o with its sleeve q is secured to the valve member e by a central screwed pin r.
