Abstract

287,238. Bailey, R. W., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Dec. 17, 1926. Stuffing-boxes, substitutes for; connected to source of high pressure.-In a turbine having gas as motive fluid for one stage and steam for another stage, mixing of the fluids by leakage is prevented by a duct 40 through which steam at a higher pressure than either of the motive fluids is circulated. A labyrinth packing 41 is provided on each side of the duct.
