Four - stroke - cycle engines. - Air compressed in the crank case is delivered through the reservoir 6 to the power cylinder at the end of the power stroke and at the commencement of the compression stroke. The air is admitted through the controlled valve 5, the amount admitted for scavenging being less than that admitted to form the charge.
