Abstract

Producers.-In a water-gas producer in which the fuel chamber a is surrounded by refractory material f heated by the blow gas and subsequently employed for superheating the steam, the latter is admitted preferably at different levels through pipes k, and enters the fuel bed through ports h at different levels. During the blow, air is supplied by a pipe m, and the blow gases pass through the ports h and refractory material to the outlet l, which is closed when steam is admitted during the run, the water-gas escaping through pipe d closed during the blow. The fuel in the retort b is heated externally by the blow gases, and internally by the hot watergas.
