A hot blast stove comprises an upright cylindrical body 11, 12, 13 surmounted by a spherical dome 14, 15, 16 which has a diameter D1 larger than that D2 of the cylindrical body. The connecting pipe 17 for the gases entering or leaving the stove is positioned so that an extension of its longitudinal axis passes through the centre of spherical dome.
