Abstract

1329885 Furnace tuyeres JONES & LAUGHLIN STEEL CORP 2 Sept 1971 [9 Oct 1970] 41092/71 Heading F4B A tuyere 10 comprises a body 11 of circular cross-section, the hot blast being delivered into the furnace through a passage 15. Encased in body 11 is a cooling arrangement 16 comprising a conduit in the form of the coil having a plurality of turns 17. The conduit consists of an outer tubular member 18 closed at one end 19, and positioned within the member 18 is an inner tubular member 21, the two members co-operating to form an annular passageway 24 and the member 21 also forming a central passageway 25. The end 22 of the member 21 is in fluid communication with the passageway 24 near the end 19 of tube 18 for return of the cooling fluid. The tubes 18 and 21 are spaced apart from each other by a spacer rod 30.
