Abstract

1,037,259. Spray producers. J. P. MORAN. Oct. 29, 1964 [Nov. 6, 1963], No. 43902/63. Heading B2F. A spray head suitable for use in the internal spraying of tanks &c comprises a hollow body 3 adapted to receive liquid under pressure, a rotor 6 provided with four turbine blades 7 and journalled to the body 3 so as to be rotated by the liquid entering the inlet chamber 2, a pair of diametrically opposed hollow radical arms 14, 15 connected to the rotor via a head 8 and a sleeve 8a, and a nozzle carrier 19 supporting a pair of generally tangential nozzles 20 rotatably mounted on the end of each radial arm. A bevel crown wheel 23 is formed on a hollow member 10 rigidly connected to the body 3, and a bevel pinion 24 is mounted on the shaft 18 of each carrier 19 so as mesh with the crown wheel, the arrangement being such that the number of teeth on the crown wheel differs from that of each of the pinions and is not a multiple or sub-multiple thereof so that each carrier is advanced or retarded by an equal amount on each revolution of the rotor 6. The liquid flows into the interior of the carriers from the hollow arms 14, 15 through holes 21 and the liquid is directed on to the blades 7 on passage through a plurality of tapered inclined passages 5 in a transverse wall 4. The rotatable parts of the head are mounted on synthetic resin bearing sleeves 9,17.
