Abstract
The axial flow turbine has a rotor with four rows of blades (8, 10, 12, 14) inclined at 45 degrees to the axis of rotation. On the inside wall of the turbine casing are corresponding starter blades (7, 9, 11, 13) inclined at right angles to those on the rotor. Water enters by the feed tube (1) and hits the first row of static blades (7) conferring a turbulent flow at an angle of 45 degrees. The water passes then through the first set of rotor blades imparting a turning moment on the rotor. The same procedure is repeated three times witht he remaining blades.
