Definitions
- the present invention relates to a bridging system intended in particular to allow military vehicles to cross obstacles such as for example breaches.
- the bridging systems used until now include a short span monolithic span for crossing a relatively small breach or a larger span monolithic span for crossing relatively large breaches.
- the present invention aims to eliminate the above drawback by proposing a bridging system intended in particular to allow military vehicles to cross obstacles such as breaches and characterized in that it comprises at least two identical spans which can be rigidly coupled end to end, each span comprising at least one upper structure resistant to the track; two access spouts secured to the resistant structure by locking means respectively at the two ends of the latter in extension of the track so as to form two supports of the span on two opposite edges of an obstacle; a lower element forming a tie having its two ends connected respectively in the vicinity of the two internal ends of the two access spouts for a transverse pivot axis, at least one access spout being unlockable from the resistant structure so as to allow the pivoting by lifting of the resistant structure relative to the element forming a pull around the transverse pivot axis located opposite the unlocked access spout which is liftable around its axis transverse pivot corresponding to a substantially vertical position to which it is secured to the corresponding raised end of the resistant structure, the access spout
- the bridging system comprises at least one pair of lateral reinforcement arms situated substantially in the same vertical plane, fixed at one of their two ends respectively to the two extreme access spouts of a span by a substantially horizontal transverse pivot axis distant from the transverse pivot axis of each access spout relative to the tie-rod element and at their two other ends opposite to the resistant structure respectively by two pivot axes each located at proximity of the transverse median plane of the resistant structure so that each arm forms with the pulling element, an associated access spout and the resistant structure an articulated quadrilateral deployable by the abovementioned lifting action at a position where the spout d access is secured at the raised end to the resistant structure, thus making the quadrilateral indefor mable.
- the reference 1 designates a span according to the invention intended for crossing a breach of relatively small width.
- This span comprises two identical resistant upper structures 2 extending longitudinally and interconnected by several rigid transverse connecting arms 3.
- Each structure 2 comprises two parallel beams 4 supporting a raceway 5 with lateral wheel guide 5a.
- the link arms 3 are each secured, for example by welding, respectively to the two adjacent parallel beams of the two structures 2.
- Each track 5 is used for the passage of the wheels on the same side of vehicles crossing the breach.
- Each track 5 and the side members 4 define a storage space with a U-shaped cross section in which are folded a rigid longitudinal lower element 6 forming a tie rod and two pairs of reinforcing arms 7 disposed respectively on either side of the tie-forming element 6.
- the two resistant structures 2 are arranged symmetrically to a plane perpendicular to that of FIG. 4 passing through the axis Y1-Y1 and each resistant structure 2, the tie-forming element 6 and the two arms of reinforcement 7 have symmetry relative to the plane perpendicular to that of Figure 4 passing through the axis Y2-Y2. Because the two resistant structures 2 and the elements 6, 7 which are associated with them are identical, only one structure 2 of the span 1 will be detailed.
- each end of the pulling element 6 is in the form of a yoke, the two branches 6a of which are engaged respectively in two recesses of conjugate shape 8a machined in the corresponding access spout 8 (see also Figures 12 and 14).
- Each recess 8a opens on the upper face 8b also acting as a track for the access spout 8 and has a bottom 8c cooperating with the corresponding branch 6a to prevent any pivoting down of the access spout 8 relative to the pulling element 6.
- the pivot axis 9 naturally crosses the branches 6a of the yoke and is integral with the access spout 8 near its internal end facing the pulling element 6.
- Each access spout 8 is secured to the two ends situated on the same side respectively of the two longitudinal members 4 by locking means 10 so that the upper face 8b of the access spout 8 extends the raceway 5 of the structure resistant 2.
- the locking means 10 are constituted by two removable lateral pins 10 with an operating handle arranged transversely to the axis XX ′ of the resistant structure 2 and symmetrically thereto being coaxial, each pin 10 passing through a bore 8c of the spout 8 and at least one bore of the corresponding end 4a of a spar 4. As is better represented in FIG.
- each end 4a of a spar 4 has a profile in the shape of a rectangular trapezoid engaging in a recess of conjugate shape 8d machined in the spout 8 by opening on the face upper 8b of the spout 8 so that the small base of the end 4a is in support at the bottom 8e of the recess and the oblique side is also in support on the corresponding oblique face 8f connecting the bottom 8e to the upper face 8b of the spout 8.
- each spout 8 cannot pivot about the pivot axis 9 due to the presence of the locking pins 10 and the assembly in the shape of a rectangular trapezoid between the spout 8 and the ends 4a of the side members 4 as also shown in FIG. 18.
- FIG. 7 shows two embodiments of two ends 4a situated on the same side of two longitudinal members 4.
- the end 4a is constituted by a tenon in the shape of a rectangular trapezoid comprising the p hole 4b for the passage of the corresponding pin 10 and a hole 4c whose role will be explained later.
- the other end 4a is formed by two parallel branches or identical wings, each in the shape of a rectangular trapezoid with bore 4b for the passage of the corresponding pin 10 and bore 4c identical to the holes 4b and 4c produced. through the pin-shaped end 4a.
- the axis Y3-Y3 of the pins 10 is located at a certain distance d to the right in view of FIG. 5 of the pivot axis 9.
- each pair of reinforcement arms are situated substantially in the same vertical plane and each have one of their ends fixed to a corresponding access spout 8 by a transverse pivot axis 11 integral with the spout 8 and passing through an identical recess at the recess 8d and the rounded tenon-shaped end 7a of the arm 7 by a corresponding hole 7b, the tenon end 7a coming to bear at the bottom 8e of the recess 8d to also prevent the downward pivoting of the spout 8 relative to the tie-forming element 6 but the assembly of this end with the spout 8 does not prevent the pivoting along the arrow F1 of the spout around the axis 11 as shown in Figure 19.
- the two pivot axes 11 respectively of the two ends 7a located on the same side of two reinforcing arms 7 are coaxial with the axis Y3 -Y3 pins 10.
- the end of each reinforcement arm 7, opposite the end 7a, is fixed to the corresponding spar 4 by means of a transverse pivot axis 12, as is best shown in Figures 11 and 22, integral with said end perpendicular thereto and extending through an oblong hole 4d machined through the wall forming the lateral face of the corresponding spar 4 substantially along the longitudinal axis thereof.
- the plate 13 is held in the blocking or unblocking position by a bistable holding member constituted in the present case by a prestressed compression spring 18 hinged in an articulated manner at one of its ends to the spar 4 and at its end opposite to the upper part of the plate 13 by means of a fixing lug 13a integral with the plate 13, the spring 18 being for this mounted coaxially around a rod 19 comprising at its two ends two plates 19a and 19b forming bearing surfaces at the two extreme turns of the spring 18 and articulated respectively to the fixing lug 13a and to the spar 4.
- the plate 13 comprises two separate recesses 13b, 13c for receiving the axis 12 and terminating opposite the pivot axis 15 by a handle 13d substantially perpendicular to the beam 4.
- the axis 12 is blocked between the rear end of the oblong hole 4d and the rounded end of connection of the plate 13 to the handle 13d.
- the two axes 12 respectively of two reinforcement arms of the same pair are located near the transverse median plane of the corresponding spar 4, therefore of the resistant structure 2, and symmetrically to this plane.
- Each access spout 8 comprises at its end opposite to that pivotally mounted to the element forming a tie 6 around the axis 9 two U-shaped recesses 8d arranged symmetrically to the axis XX ′ and of a slightly smaller width to that of a spar 4 but making it possible to receive a corresponding end 4a of a spar 4 when the access spout 8 occupies a raised vertical position as will be explained later.
- the resistant structure comprises two pairs of gripping handles 5b secured respectively to the two ends of the structure 2 on the side walls 5a forming a wheel guide.
- FIGS. 1A and 1B show the way in which a span 1 identical to that shown in FIG. 3 is deposited over a breach to be crossed.
- a transport vehicle T of overlapping spans 1 goes to proximity of the breach to be crossed and a handling vehicle M with steer crane and handling of span 1 raises an upper span 1 to bring it above the breach B as shown in Figure 1B.
- lifting and handling at the span 1 is carried out at the middle part thereof by means of gripping handles identical to the handles 5b also integral with the side walls 5a.
- the span 1 thus deposited is supported on the two opposite edges of the breach B by the intermediary of the two extreme access spouts 8 respectively.
- the tie-forming element 6 and the two pairs of reinforcing arms 7 occupy a folded position of storage between the two side members 4, that is to say the two reinforcing arms 7 of a pair are aligned and located substantially in the same horizontal plane as the reinforcing element.
- the longitudinal members 4 and the extreme access spouts 8 then offer sufficient resistance to allow the passage of relatively heavy vehicles, such as for example tanks, on the two parallel running tracks 5.
- Each span 1 can be coupled end to end with another identical span when a gap of greater width must be crossed.
- Figures 1C to 1F illustrate how two identical spans are coupled end to end and placed over a gap to be crossed.
- the handling vehicle M takes a span 1 which it deposits on the ground.
- Each locking plate 13 located on the side of the end of the span to be coupled to the end of the other span is then brought to its unlocking position shown in phantom in Figure 22 and maintained at this position by the spring 18.
- the two pairs of locking pins 10 respectively of two access spouts 8 located on the same side are manually removed so as to separate the two longitudinal members 4 from the corresponding access spout 8.
- the cable CA is then hooked to the four handles 5b to allow the pivoting by lifting of each resistant structure 2 relative to the pulling element 6 around the pivot axis 9 located opposite the unlocked access spout 8 which is liftable around the pivot axis corresponding to a substantially vertical position shown in particular in Figure 7.
- each access spout 8 is simultaneously accompanied by lifting in an arc, having the axis of pivoting 9 of the tank 8, of the two ends 7a respectively of the two reinforcement arms 7 around their pivot axes 11 and of the lifting of the ends opposite to the ends 7a of these arms and whose axes 12 slide in their respective oblong holes 4d while describing a trajectory in an arc of circle admitting for center the pivot axis 9.
- the two reinforcing arms 7 located on either side of the element 7 located on either side of the pulling element 6 thus form with their corresponding side members 4 an acute angle varying according to the position of each axis 12 in its oblong hole 4d.
- the corresponding angle ⁇ is such that the axis 12 is in abutment at the front end of the corresponding oblong hole 4d as shown in figure 23.
- the plate 13 is maneuvered so that the axis 12 is blocked by the recess 13b at the front end of the oblong hole 4d.
- the plate 13 is held in the locked position by the spring of holding 18.
- the two access spouts 8 can each be locked at the two ends 4a situated on the same side respectively of two longitudinal members 4 by two removable coaxial pins 20, identical to the pins 10, and each introduced transversely to the axis XX ′ through the U-shaped recess 8g and the corresponding end 4a by the hole 8h in the access spout 8 and the hole 4c or the two coaxial holes 4c of the end 4a. Locking the access nozzles 8 at the ends 4a of the side members 4 makes the quadrilateral defined previously undeformable. These two raised access spouts 8 of a span 1 have, as shown in FIG.
- the two hooks 21 each pivot in a recess 8j for housing the hook 21 opening into the face 8i.
- An external lateral handle 23 integral with one of the pivot axes 22 of a hook 21 controls the simultaneous pivoting of this hook with the other hook 21 by means of a bar 24 shown in particular in FIG. 17 connecting together two lower legs 25 respectively secured to the two hooks 21.
- each access spout 8 engage when pivoted along the arrow F2 as shown in Figure 7 through the handle 23, respectively on two locking axes vis-à-vis integral with the lower part of the access spout 8 of the other span 1, the latter spout also comprising two locking hooks 21 identical to the locking hooks 21 of the access spout 8 of the first span cooperating with two coaxial locking axes integral in the lower part of the access spout 8 of the first span.
- One of the two locking axes of the access spout of the first or second span is in fact an extension of the pivot axis 22 of a hook 21 to form a central axis, the other locking axis , bearing the reference 26, being independent.
- Two access nozzles 8 facing respectively two spans 1 are also joined together with one another at their upper parts by introducing the tenon end 4a of a spar 4 of a span 1 between the two parallel branches of the end 4a of the spar 4 of the other span and locking one in the other these two ends 4a by two parallel pins 20, one introduced through the bore 8h of the corresponding access spout 8 , drilling 4c of the tenon end 4a of the spar 4 of a span and the two bores 4b of the branches 4a of the end of the spar 4 of the other span, and the other introduced through the bore 8h of the other spout d 'Access 8, the bore 4b of the tenon end 4a of the spar of the other span and the two holes 4c of branches 4a of the end of the spar of the first crosspiece.
- FIGS. 2A to 2D represent the end-to-end coupling of three identical short spans 1 to form a very long span span to thus cover a very wide breach. To do this, there is first of all an extreme access spout of a span 1 as already explained above and then the other extreme access spout of this span in the same way as the first access spout. It should however be noted that the raising of the second access spout 8 from the position of the span shown in FIG.
- FIG. 2C shows the two spans assembled end to end with the middle or central span posed on a CN box so as to allow it to be assembled by its second access spout raised to the access spout raised from the third span.
- the long span span resulting from the end-to-end assembly of three short spans shown in FIG. 24 is then deposited by the handling vehicle M above the large width gap as shown in FIG. 2D.
- Figures 6 and 24 show that the tracks resulting from the end-to-end assembly of two or three identical spans are curved.
- the reinforcing arms 7 allow the recovery of the forces caused during the passage of one or more heavy vehicles on these spans.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a bridging system intended in particular to allow military vehicles to cross obstacles such as for example breaches.
The bridging systems used until now include a short span monolithic span for crossing a relatively small breach or a larger span monolithic span for crossing relatively large breaches.
The disadvantage of such systems is that they require at least two transport vehicles, one of at least one short span span and the other of at least one longer span span.
The present invention aims to eliminate the above drawback by proposing a bridging system intended in particular to allow military vehicles to cross obstacles such as breaches and characterized in that it comprises at least two identical spans which can be rigidly coupled end to end, each span comprising at least one upper structure resistant to the track; two access spouts secured to the resistant structure by locking means respectively at the two ends of the latter in extension of the track so as to form two supports of the span on two opposite edges of an obstacle; a lower element forming a tie having its two ends connected respectively in the vicinity of the two internal ends of the two access spouts for a transverse pivot axis, at least one access spout being unlockable from the resistant structure so as to allow the pivoting by lifting of the resistant structure relative to the element forming a pull around the transverse pivot axis located opposite the unlocked access spout which is liftable around its axis transverse pivot corresponding to a substantially vertical position to which it is secured to the corresponding raised end of the resistant structure, the access spout raised by a span having a front face that can be joined joined to the adjacent front face of an access spout raised from another span by means of locking members to form a span of longer span.
According to a characteristic of the invention, the bridging system comprises at least one pair of lateral reinforcement arms situated substantially in the same vertical plane, fixed at one of their two ends respectively to the two extreme access spouts of a span by a substantially horizontal transverse pivot axis distant from the transverse pivot axis of each access spout relative to the tie-rod element and at their two other ends opposite to the resistant structure respectively by two pivot axes each located at proximity of the transverse median plane of the resistant structure so that each arm forms with the pulling element, an associated access spout and the resistant structure an articulated quadrilateral deployable by the abovementioned lifting action at a position where the spout d access is secured at the raised end to the resistant structure, thus making the quadrilateral indefor mable.

Referring to Figures 3 and 4, the
The
Each
The resistant structure comprises two pairs of gripping handles 5b secured respectively to the two ends of the
Each
Figures 1C to 1F illustrate how two identical spans are coupled end to end and placed over a gap to be crossed.
To do this, the handling vehicle M takes a
Figures 6 and 24 show that the tracks resulting from the end-to-end assembly of two or three identical spans are curved.
