Die erhaltenen Azocarbonsäuren werden mit Mit teln behandelt, die befähigt sind, Carbonsäuren in ihre Halogenide, z. B. Chloride oder Bromide, überzufüh ren, so insbesondere mit Phosphorhalogeniden, wie Phosphorpentabromid oder Phosphortrichlorid oder -pentachlorid, Phosphoroxyhalogeniden und vorzugs weise mit Thionylchlorid.
Die Behandlung mit solchen säurehalogenierenden Mitteln wird zweckmässig in indifferenten organischen Lösungsmitteln, wie Dimethylformamid, Chlorbenzo len, z. B. Mono- oder Dichlorbenzol, Toluol, Xylol oder Nitrobenzol durchgeführt, bei den 5 letztgenann ten gegebenenfalls unter Zusatz von Dimethylform- amid.
Bei der Herstellung der Carbonsäurehalogenide ist es in der Regel zweckmässig, die in wässerigem Medium hergestellten Azoverbindungen vorerst zu trocknen oder durch Kochen in einem organischen Lösungsmittel azeotrop von Wasser zu befreien. Diese azeotrope Trocknung kann gewünschtenfalls unmittel bar vor der Behandlung mit den säurehalogenierenden Mitteln vorgenommen werden.
Die erhaltenen Azofarbstoffcarbonsäurechloride werden mit Monoaminen der Formel 3) kondensiert. Als Beispiele seien die folgenden Amine genannt: 4'-Methoxybenzoylamino-anilin 2-Chlor-4-(4'-methoxybenzoylamino)-anilin 2-Methoxy-4-(4'-methoxybenzoylamino)-anilin 2,5-Dichlor-4-(4-methoxybenzoylamino)-anilin 2,5-Dichlor-4-(3'-methoxybenzoylamino)-anilin 2,5-Dimethyl-4-(4'-methoxybenzoylamino)-anüin 2,5-Dimethyl-4-(4'-äthoxybenzoylamino)-anilin. 2-Chlor-5-methyl-4-(4'-methoxybenzoylamino)

2-Methyl-5-chlor-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-benzoylamino- anilin 5-Chlor-2-methyl-(phenoxy)-benzoylaminoanilin 4-(4'-Chlorpheno@xy)-benzoylaminoanilin 4-(4'-Bromphenoxy) benzoylanxinoanilin 4-(4'-Fluorphenoxy) benzoylaminoanilin Die Kondensation zwischen den Carbonsäurehalo- geniden der eingangs genannten Art und den Aminen wird zweckmässig in wasserfreiem Medium durchge führt.
Unter dieser Bedingung erfolgt sie im allgemei nen überraschend leicht schon bei Temperaturen, die im Siedebereich normaler organischer Lösungsmittel, wie Toluol, Monochlorbenzol, Dichlorbenzol, Trichlor- benzol, Nitrobenzol und ähnlichen liegen. Zur Be schleunigung der Umsetzung empfielt es sich im allge meinen, ein säurebindendes Mittel, wie wasserfreies Natriumacetat oder Pyridin zu verwenden. Die erhalte nen Farbstoffe sind z. T. kristallin und z.
T. amorph und werden meistens in sehr guter Ausbeute und rei nem Zustande erhalten. Es ist zweckmässig, die aus den Carbonsäuren erhaltenen Säurechloride vorerst ab zuscheiden. In manchen Fällen kann aber ohne Scha den auf eine Abscheidung der Säurechloride verzichtet werden und die Kondensation unmittelbar anschlies- send an die Herstellung der Carbonsäurechloride erfol gen.
Die neuen Farbstoffe stellen wertvolle Pigmente dar, welche für die verschiedensten Pigmentapplikatio nen verwendet werden können, z. B. in feinverteilter Form zum Färben von Kunstseide und Viskose oder Celluloseäther und -estern oder von Superpolyamiden bzw. Superpolyurethanen oder Polyestern in der Spinn masse, sowie zur Herstellung von gefärbten Lacken oder Lackbildnern, Lösungen oder Produkten aus Ace- tylcellulose, Nitrocellulose, natürlichen Harzen oder Kunstharzen, wie Polymerisationsharzen oder Konden sationsharzen, z.
B. Aminoplasten, Alkydharzen, Phe- noplasten, Polyolefinen, wie Polystyrol, Polyvinylchlo- rid, Polyäthylen, Polypropylen, Polyacrylintril, Gummi, Casein, Silikon und Silikonharzen. Ausserdem lassen sie sich vorteilhaft bei der Herstellung von Farbstiften, kosmetischen Präparaten oder Laminierplatten verwen den.
Im nachfolgenden Beispiel bedeuten die Teile, sofern nichts anderes angegeben wird, Gewichtsteile, die Prozente Gewichtsprozente, und die Temperaturen sind in Celsiusgraden angegeben.
<I>Beispiel</I> 54,2 Teile des Farbstoffes, den man durch Kupp lung von in wässeriger Salzsäure und Natriumnitrit dia- zotiertem 2,5-Dichlor-l-aminobenzol mit 2,3-Oxynaph- thoesäure erhält, werden im Gemisch mit 500 Teilen o-Dichlorbenzol, 25 Teilen Thionylchlorid und 2,5 Teilen Dimethylformamid unter Rühren eine Stunde auf 110-115' erwärmt.
Nach dem Erkalten des Reak tionsgemisches wird das einheitlich kristalline Mono- carbonsäurechlorid des Farbstoffes durch Filtration isoliert, mit kaltem o-Dichlorbenzol und Benzol gewa schen und im Vakuum bei 50 bis 60 getrocknet.
6,84 Teile dieses Chlorides werden im Gemisch mit 5 Teilen 2,5-Dimethyl-4-(4'-methoxy)-benzoylaminoa- nilin und 400 Teilen o-Dichiorbenzol 14 Stunden auf 140 bis 145 erwärmt. Anschliessend wird das kristal line, schwerlösliche Pigment heiss abfiltriert und mit heissem o-Dichlorbenzoi, siedendem Alkohol und heis- sem Wasser gewaschen und im Vakuum bei 70 bis 80 getrocknet.
Der erhaltene Farbstoff der Formel

stellt ein rotes Pigment dar, welches in den üblichen Lösungsmitteln schwer bis unlöslich ist und welches die Polyvinylchloridfolie sowie Lacke in ausgezeichne ten licht-, migrations- und überlackierechten scharlach roten Tönen färbt.
In entsprechender Weise, wie dies in den Absätzen 1 und 2 beschrieben wird, können die aus den einker nigen Diazokomponenten der Kolonne I und den Kupplungskomponenten der Kolonne II der folgenden Tabelle erhältlichen Azofarbstoffmonocarbonsäuren über die Monoazofarbstoffmonocarbonsäurechloride mit 1 Mol der in Kolonne III angegebenen aromati schen zweikernigen Monoamine umgesetzt werden.
Kolonne IV bezeichnet den Farbton einer mit dem Pigment gefärbten Poiyvinylchloridfolie.
