EMI1.1
The present invention relates to a method for the watertight storage of vertical shafts, especially in the case of electric motors which have an internal overpressure generated by compressed gas, the penetration of the lubricant into the external liquid being prevented.
It does this by filling the lower part of the motor with the liquid that the motor is immersed in. The liquid seal achieved in this way prevents the compressed gas from flowing out of the interior of the motor.
According to the invention, the inside of the motor is provided with a supply for compressed gas and a supply for the external liquid, in such a way that this fills the lower part of the motor up to a certain, prescribed height, whereupon the access of the compressed gas to the inside of the motor is released to lower the motor to set the necessary internal overpressure.
The drawing shows an embodiment of a watertight motor with a closed upper part, in its lower part, from which the shaft protrudes, a float and a supply line for compressed gas

The liquid 1 under gas pressure is slowly pressed out of the motor along the shaft. When the level of this liquid drops, the valve 9 is activated by the float. 3 opened by means of the spring loaded rod J while the valve 10 is closed.
The external liquid now flows through the pipe 8 into the interior of the motor until the float closes the valve 9 again and releases the valve 10. The inside of the motor is then connected again to the compressed air tank through the pipe 7 through the latter valve. The valve 9 is normally closed. the valve-M opened.
The valve 9 can also be arranged lower than the valve jfss. The lower part of the engine
