DESIGN FOR FABRIC.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,464, dated August 22, 1876; application filed August 4, 1876. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern: r
Be it known that we, ROBERT SCOTT and AARON JEWELL, both of Lawrence, in the county of Essex and State 0t` Massachusetts, have invented a new Design for Fancy VVorsted or \Voolen Fabrics; and we do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawing, making a part of the saine, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The eli'ect ot' our novel design will be apparent from an inspection of the accompanying drawing, to which reference is iliade. The fabric is divided into squares A by narrow and broad stripes O and D in alternation, running lengthwise and crosswise of the fabric, and both squares and stripes are shaded by diagonal lines, the direction of the shade-lines of stripes being` opposite, or at right angles to that of the squares, except at the intersections or crossings of the said stripes, where the direction of shading corresponds with that of the squares, as shown.
The fabric may be woven in any preferred variety or combination of colors for giving effect to the design above described, the distinctive character of which is diagonallyshaded squares formed by diagonally-shaded narrow and broad stripes in alternation, running lengthwise and crosswise of the fabric, the direction of shading of squares and stripes being at right angles, except at crossings of said stripes, where the shading corresponds to that of squares.
What we claim is- The design for fancy worsted or woolen fabrics, substantially as herein described, and represented in the drawing.
