DESIGN FOR CASSIMERES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,057, dated July 3,1877 application filed June 23, 1877. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM B. WEEDEN, ot' the city and county of Providence, and State of Rhode Island. have invented a new and usel'ul Design for Fancy Uass neres; and I do hereby declare that the tollowing specification, taken in connection with the accompanying d rawiugs, making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The effect of the novel design herein described consists in the combination and alternation of diagonally-woven stripes with peculiarly-shaded stripes, all running longitudinally of the fabric, as will be apparent from an inspection of the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.
The stripe A is diagonally woven, the ribs of the part a having an inclination opposite to those of the part a, presenting a broad herring-bone stripe composed of heavy diagonal ribs. The stripes A are in alternation with broader stripes B, whose surfaces are plainly woven and shaded, as follows, by acolor or colors differing from that of the ground of the fabric:
The stripe B may be termed a threcniembered stripe, the outer portions 0 b being shaded alike by small squares, arranged in checkerboard pattern. The middle member, I), is likewise shaded by checker-board squares, which are larger than those of the flanking members, giving variety to the appearance of the stripe.
The fabric may be woven in any preferred variety or combination of colors for giving effect to the design above described, the distinctive character of which is longitudinal herring-bone stripes composed of diagonal ribs in combination and alternation with plainly-woven longitudinal stripes whose surfaces are shaded by squares arranged in chequer-board pattern, the color of the shading squares being diflerent from the ground of the fabric.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for fancy cassimeres, substantially as described, and represented in the drawing.
