  • the present invention relates to a device for performing marking operations, as for instance stamping or printing, on a continuously or intermittently fed material web running over a circular-cylindric roll or drum, whereby the distance between any two operations following in succession in principle may be optionally pre-set.
  • a device of this type is for instance a rotary printing press, where the paper web is printed when passing through a pair of rolls.
  • a disadvantage with these known devices is, however, that the operations are repeated regularly, wherefore the distances between the processing points on the material web in the main will be equal, provided the tooled roll is not exchanged with a larger or a smaller one.
  • a device in accordance with the invention is therefore very advantageous when it is required that the marking should be applied on the material web at intervals independent of each other and is characterized therein that a revolving roll provided with the tools necessary for the required marking operation is arranged to engage with the material web under the control of a locking device which is released by means of a programme attachment, in order to perform the mentioned operation when rolling against the material web, and to revolve into a position in which the roll is disengaged from the material web and where it again is locked by the locking device in a disengaged position in relation to the material web.

  • the lifting magnet 7 When a marking operation is desired to be effected in the material web 1 the lifting magnet 7 is charged with current from an impulse device, not shown here, which either may be guided by the movement of the material web or its driving machinery or by an entirely optional programme.

  • the bottom part of the flat section 6 of the roll 4 is caused by the revolving action of the roll 4 to engage with the material web 1, whereafter this with its upwards action and through friction carries the roll 4 with itto give the roll a practically non-sliding rolling movement along the surface of the material web 1.
