STAYBOLT STRUCTURE.
.To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I ETHAN 1. Donna, a
of Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Structures; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,
it appertains to make'and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in staybolt structures for boilers,--one object of the invention being to providea mounting for the headed end of a staybolt at the outer. boiler sheet, which will become so disposed as to insure correct alinement of the staybolt with its points of connect on with the respective boiler sheets, and which shall be capable of a wide range of ad ustment.
A further object is to provide a structure having the characteristics above specified and yet avoid the necessity of rounding or curving either the bearing sleeve or bushing or the wall of the opening in the boller sheet which receives the sleeve or bushing.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings; Figure 1 is a sectional view showing an embodiment of my invention; Fig. 2 is a view partly in elevation showing the bearing sleeve and at an angle to the axis of the opening in the boiler sheet, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view showing a modification.

The outer sheet is provided with openings 3 to accommodate the mountlng ofthe headed ends 4* of staybolts, such as shown at l, and the inner, ends of the latter are secured to the inner boiler sheet in any sultable manner.

The sleeve or bushing may, however be so disposed that its axismay he at a decided angle to the axis of the opening as shown in Fig. 2,-1n wh1ch event, a portion of the inner end of the sleeve may engage or approximate the wall of the opening 3.

y improvement will permit a. wide range of adjustment of the bearing sleeve or bushing, so that the staybolt which has its head mounted therein, may readily accommodate itself to its points of connection with the respective boiler sheets, and thus the correct alinement ofthe staybolt with the points of connection to the respective boiler sheets, will be insured whether the two sheets be parallel or at an angle to each other.
Nhen the bearin sleeve or bushing shall have become proper y adjustedto insure correctalinement of the staybolt, it will be secured to the boiler sheet with the use of a weld 9 which may be applied around the sleeve or bushing so that the sleeve or bushing and the boiler sheet will be integrally united.
By the term transversely. of the sheet is meant, -in a direction extending from one face of the sheet toward the other.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is

In a staybolt structure, the combination with a boiler sheet having an opening, the wall of which is straight transversely of the sheet, of a tapering sleeve or bushing entering said opening and having initial universally movable mounting on the boiler sheet at the outer end of said opening, and a staybolt having a head mounted in said sleeve or bushin 2.
