Be .it known that I, Gnonen P Wreomwon, a citizen of the United States, residing at'the city and county of Kalamazoo, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Loose-Sheet Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements loose sheet devices.
My improvements are especially designed to facilitate the handling of loose sheets, by
which term I contemplate cards and the like,.in accounting or record systems.
- which all of the sheets are readily accessible.
Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and ,means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure-which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which:

In the drawings similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines.
Referring to the drawing, the sheets 1, illustrated, are provided with spaced notches 9. and spaced holes 3, the sheets bein such as are shown in my Patent # 1,1 4,458, March 7, 1916. My present improvements are adapted for use in connection with movable sheet support removed from the sheets employed in accounting systems and,
either in connection with binders, such as, illustrated in my said patent, the sheets being transferred to and from the binders as occasion requires, or independently, my
present improvements constituting, wheredesired, a complete sheet filing means without the use of other devices. The details of the sheets may be greatly varied, my improved sheet holder being adapted for use with any form or style of sheet desired.
In the embodiment illustrated I provide a series of four units or sheet holder devices,
, the base members 6. The member 8 is provided with a plate 11 having a slot 13 there in, while the member has a plate 14 with a pin 15 thereon engaging and slldmg 1n the slot. These members 8 and.9 are arranged so that when collapsed to rest 'upon the cross pieces 7 with the inner end of the member 8,- overlapping the member 9 and when swung to erected position, as shown in Figs. IV and V, the edge of the member 9 is overhung by the member 8. v
The slot 13 of the plate 11 is provided with an offset 16 adapted to receive the pin 15 when the members are in their erected position, thereby supporting them in such position.
" Members 17 and 18 are mounted on the outer ends of the bottom members 8 and 9, respectively, the member 17 being hinged to the member 8 at 19, while the member 18 is rigidly mounted, at right angles to the member 9. When thesheet holder is ad'usted to the position shown in Figs. IV and a pair of sheet holder members is provided, which permits the sheets bein shifted from one holder member tothe ot er, as occasion requires in manipulating, the sheets. When the holder is adjusted as a drawer, as shown in Fig. III, these holder members 17 and 18 constitute the ends of the drawer. The member 17 is provided with a finger piece 20 for convenience in manipulating the de vice as a drawer.
The member 17 is adjustably supported by means of the link 21, which is pivoted to it at 22 and slotted at 23 to engage the clamp-' ing bolt 24 mounted on one of the base members 6. The base member is provided with a recess 25 adapted to receive a nut 26 of the clamping bolt, so that this does not interfere with the drawers being slid into the cabinet. By thus supporting the side holder member 17 it may be adjusted at an acute angle to its coacting bottom member, so that the upper edges of the sheets are stepped to facilitate fingering,see Fig. VII.
In the modification shown in Fig. XI, the link 27 is provided with a series of teeth 28 which may be engaged with the pin 29 on the adjacent base member 6 to adjustably support the member 17.
To facilitate fingering it is sometimes desirable to fan or step the upper edges of the sheets arranged in the rear holder member and, to accomplish this, I rovide a tapered sheet support 30,5- -see ig. IV
= which may be inserted behind the sheets, as.
the guides may be removed or introduced by longitudinal movement. 7 Spring pressed pins 33 are arranged below the guides to yieldingly retain them in position. This particular guide structure is the subject matter of the claims in my copending application #146,7 62, filed Feb. 5, 1917.
My improved loose sheet device is of large capacity and at the same time supports the sheets so that they are very accessible and convenient to manipulate. The structure also has the advantage of being very economical to produce, when its capacity is considered. p
I have illustrated and described my imrovements in a simple and practical emdiment. I have not attempted to illustra-te or describe various modifications in structural details, which I contemplate, as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which my. invention relates to embody or adapt the same as conditions may dictate. n
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A sheet holder adapted as a cabinet drawer and comprising spaced base-meme bers connected by cross members and constituting drawer side members, bottom members piyoted between said base members so that they may be adjusted to rest upon said cross members or to an oppositely inclined relation, and end members mounted on said bottom members, one end member being piv oted to the outer edge of one bot-tom member for adjustment relative thereto.
2. A sheet holder adapted as a cabinetdrawer and comprising spaced base members connected by cross members and constituting drawer'side members, bottom members pivoted between said base members so that they may be adjusted to rest upon said cross members or to an oppositely inclined relation, and end members mounted on said bottom members.
3. A sheet holder comprising a base and a pair of holder members each including a' bottom member and a side member mounted on said base to be adjusted to bring the bottom members to a horizontal position and the side membersto a vertical position or to bring the bottom members to an outwardly inclined position and the side members to an inwardly inclined position.
6. A sheet holder comprising a pair of holder members each including a bottom member and a side member mounted to be adjusted to bring the bottom members to a horizontal position and the side members to a vertical position or to bring the bottom members to an outwardly inclined position and the side' members to an inwardly inclined position, one of the side members Jae-- ing ad ustable to vary its angle relative to its coacting bottom member.
7. The combination with loose sheets, of a sheet holder comprisin a pair of holder members havin side and bottom members disposed at rig t angles to each other, said removably associated with said holders and adapted when in operative position to support the sheets in an inclined position with their lower edges abutting the holder bottom member and their upper edges in a stepped relation to facilitate fingermg.
24. The combination with loose sheets, of a pair of holder members comprisin side and bottom members disposed at rigt angles, the sheets being transferable from one holder member to the other, and a tapered sheet support adapted to'support the sheets with their edges m a steppedrelation.

The combination of loose sheets, and sheet holder members comprising side and bottom members, the sheets being transferable from one holder member to the other, the side of one holder member'being adjustable relative to its bottom, so that it may be adjusted to a position at right angles thereto or to a position at an acute angle thereto, for the purpose specified.
26. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a pair of holder members comprising bottom-members pivotally mounted so that they 'may' be adjusted to an overlapping position or tilted outwardly.
