Description
DESCRIÇÃO
"SISTEMA DE MOTOR E MÉTODO PARA COMBUSTÃO SUBSTANCIALMENTE DESPROVIDA DE NOx DE UM CARBURANTE NUM MOTOR DE IGNIÇÃO POR COMPRESSÃO" A presente invenção refere-se a um sistema de motor com reduzidas emissões de NOx nos gases de escape e um método para reduzir o teor em NOx dos gases de escape. A presente invenção também se refere à utilização de um sistema de motor e um método para combustão substancialmente desprovida de NOx. A chama fria é um fenómeno que, até aqui, não tem recebido muita atenção. Numa chama fria o carburante é parcialmente oxidado em ar pré-aquecido e a temperatura é mantida constante a cerca de 450 °C e é independente da relação ar/carburante e tempo de residência. No processo de chama fria, apenas é libertado 2-20% do poder calorífico do carburante e este calor é utilizado para evaporar o carburante, proporcionando um carburante gasoso homogéneo. Durante o trabalho de desenvolvimento, observou-se que o gás conseguia remover depósitos de carbono das paredes de reactor. A razão para isto não foi ainda estabelecida, mas supõe-se que se deve aos radicais livres que estão presentes no gás de chama fria, i. e., no carburante gasoso parcialmente oxidado.
Pode ser encontrada uma descrição mais completa do fenómeno de gás de chama fria na patente Americana US 6793693. 1 0 escape proveniente de motores de ignição por compressão (frequentemente denominados de modo impreciso por motores
Diesel), que funcionam com excesso de ar, contém, principalmente, particulados, NOx e produtos de combustão incompleta (HC e CO). 0 NOx apenas pode ser removido cataliticamente se os gases de escape forem ligeiramente redutores (como num motor Otto). Este não é normalmente o caso num motor de ignição por compressão.
Um modo conhecido de reduzir emissões de NOx num motor Diesel é recircular parte do escape de novo para o motor (EGR). Apesar de isto funcionar para motores Diesel mais pequenos que funcionam com carburante diesel limpo, não é prático para motores maiores que funcionem com óleo carburante pesado, visto produzirem particulados no escape que se irão misturar no óleo lubrificante e provocar desgaste prematuro do motor. Tentativas de inserir um filtro no ciclo EGR não foram bem sucedidas uma vez que o escape também contém sais e outros compostos metálicos que se irão fundir durante a regeneração do filtro (quando a temperatura aumenta acima de 800 °C) e provocar danos permanentes no filtro.
Embora o método anterior reduza a formação de NOx, é igualmente possível remover NOx inserindo um absorvente de NOx, como descrito em diversos documentos de patente, por exemplo, o documento US 5974791. Um absorvente de NOx pode ser feito de carbonato de bário. Durante a absorção, o absorvente é convertido em nitrato de bário e liberta C02 ao mesmo tempo. Quando o absorvente está saturado, este pode ser regenerado 2 utilizando CO por o nitrato de bário ser de novo convertido em carbonato de bário e libertar gás N2.
Também se sabe que o NOx pode ser reduzido utilizando um conceito de duplo carburante, em que gás natural é injectado na corrente de ar de entrada e a mistura gás/ar é injectada com uma chama piloto diesel. Exemplos de como isto funciona foram dados por Wartsila em grandes motores de navios e Caterpillar/Clean Air Partners em motores diesel de camiões. Wartsila demonstra uma redução em NOx de 12,5 g/kWh até 1,3 kWh (ver figura 1) . 0 nível de NOx é reduzido com uma crescente relação ar/carburante e o limite superior é de cerca de 2, limitado por falhas de ignição. Resultados semelhantes foram obtidos por outros. Embora isto funcione bem para aplicações estacionárias onde gás natural está facilmente disponível, não é prático para navios devido aos custos associados ao armazenamento de gás natural (normalmente como LNG) . Utilizando a tecnologia de chama fria, é possível obter a mesma redução de NOx com um único carburante, que pode ser facilmente armazenado em navios.
No artigo "Homogeneous diesel combustion with externai mixture formation by a cool flame vaporizer" de Heike Puschmann et al., direitos de autor SAE 2006, é apresentado um estudo em que um carburante diesel é vaporizado num dispositivo de vaporização de chama fria para formar um gás de chama fria que é queimado no motor diesel. O estudo conclui que o funcionamento do motor diesel com uma mistura de gás de chama fria e ar reduz significativamente a formação de NOx e fumo quando comparado com as duas estratégias de combustão diesel a baixa temperatura diesel baseadas na injecção directa de carburante; a ignição por compressão de carga pré-misturada (PCCI) e a combustão tardia de baixa temperatura (LLTC). 3
Neste artigo, o objectivo foi formar uma mistura ar/carburante que se iria autoinflamar após compressão. Embora seja possível encontrar um ponto de funcionamento (velocidade e carga) onde isto seja possível, é difícil controlar e operar um tal motor variando a velocidade e carga. Na presente invenção, a relação ar/carburante é escolhida de modo a que a mistura não se autoinflame na compressão devido a ser demasiado pobre, o mesmo princípio que num motor de duplo carburante de gás natural (ver a fig. 1). Injectando uma pequena quantidade de líquido carburante no motor tal como com um motor de duplo carburante, o carburante injectado funciona como uma chama piloto e irá inflamar a mistura pré-misturada e comprimida de gás de chama fria. 0 funcionamento do motor em tais condições irá conduzir a uma redução nas emissões de NOx, semelhante ao que pode ser alcançado por um motor de duplo carburante de gás natural.
Contudo, de modo a assegurar a autoignição, o motor apresentado no artigo de Heike Puschman et. al. deve funcionar com uma mistura rica de carburante/ar, o que conduz à formação acrescida de NOx no escape. 0 documento DE 10240234 Al divulga um motor Diesel em que, como mostrado na figura 2, é injectado gás de chama fria, ar e carburante diesel adicional separadamente na câmara de combustão onde o gás de chama fria, ar e carburante diesel adicional são misturados antes da combustão ocorrer. Por outras palavras, é queimada uma mistura de gás de chama fria e carburante diesel. O gás de chama fria é fornecido à câmara de combustão independentemente do ar, quando o pistão está próximo do topo, o que é uma desvantagem, visto o gás de chama fria ter de ser pressurizado e surgirem problemas para o manter no estado gasoso 4 (a pressão imediatamente antes do pistão atingir a posição superior é de cerca de 100 bar) . O documento DE 10240234 AI divulga ainda que por regulação da adição de ar e carburante diesel, a mistura de carburante na câmara de combustão pode ser regulada, i. e., existe uma mistura de gás de chama fria e carburante a ser queimada. Também se divulga que o carburante é directamente injectado na câmara de combustão numa "dieseltypischer Einspritzung", que deve ser interpretada como uma injecção convencional de carburante para combustão sem uma injecção piloto de carburante. Isto também é suportado no parágrafo 0010, onde se divulga que por uma adição doseada de gás de chama fria a capacidade reactiva do carburante pode ser regulada e, desse modo, mantido o modo de combustão HCCI relativamente a uma larga gama de cargas e velocidades de rotação. Por outras palavras, a capacidade reactiva do gás de chama fria é utilizada para reduzir o atraso de ignição, mas não existe chama piloto que provoca a ignição da mistura de carburante. O documento JP 2001123871 A divulga um motor Diesel com injecção piloto para reduzir níveis de ruído. O nível de ruído de combustão no motor é detectado e baseado no nível de ruído detectado, a quantidade de carburante piloto injectada é adjustada. A injecção piloto do carburante diesel para redução de ruído não está, contudo, de nenhum modo ligada à utilização de um gás de chama fria e de uma injecção piloto de carburante para reduzir a formação de NOx. É por esse motivo um objectivo da presente invenção proporcionar um motor Diesel em que as desvantagens anteriormente mencionadas sejam reduzidas. 5
Este objectivo é alcançado pela presente invenção como definido nas reivindicações independentes. Outras formas de realização da invenção estão definidas nas reivindicações dependentes.
Proporciona-se um sistema de motor compreendendo um motor de ignição por compressão incluindo, pelo menos, uma câmara de combustão, um dispositivo de vaporização de chama fria no qual um carburante é parcialmente oxidado em ar pré-aquecido para formar um gás de chama fria, estando o dispositivo de vaporização de chama fria em comunicação de fluido com a câmara de combustão do motor de ignição por compressão, e meios para fornecimento ar, de tal modo que o gás de chama fria possa ser misturado com o ar adicional antes de ser injectado na câmara de combustão. 0 sistema de motor compreende ainda meios para injecção de um carburante piloto na câmara de combustão, produzindo, desse modo, uma chama piloto na câmara de combustão que inflama a mistura de gás de chama fria e ar. 0 sistema de motor também pode compreender um reformador no qual o gás de chama fria é, pelo menos parcialmente, reformado para formar hidrogénio. Isto irá tornar o carburante mais combustível. 0 reformador pode ser um reformador padrão para reformar uma substância de hidrocarbonetos.
Também se proporciona um método para uma combustão substancialmente desprovida de NOx num motor de ignição por 6 compressão incluindo, pelo menos, uma câmara de combustão, em que o método compreende os seguintes passos: produção de um gás de chama fria a partir do carburante e ar pré-aquecido, mistura do gás de chama fria com ar adicional, injecção da mistura de gás de chama fria e ar na, pelo menos uma, câmara de combustão.
Para a ignição da mistura de gás de chama fria e ar, o método compreende ainda o passo de proporcionar uma chama piloto na câmara de combustão por injecção de um carburante piloto. 0 método compreende ainda o passo de reformar, pelo menos parcialmente, o gás de chama fria para formar hidrogénio antes de o injectar no motor de ignição por compressão, tornando, desse modo, a mistura de carburante e ar mais combustível. 0 método compreende ainda o passo de utilizar o mesmo carburante para produzir o gás de chama fria e a chama piloto. Isto significa que, por exemplo, navios transportando carburante diesel, podem ter os seus motores Diesel a funcionar com um gás de chama fria.
Também se proporciona a utilização do sistema de motor em que o carburante é diesel ou óleo carburante pesado.
Também se proporciona uma utilização do método para uma combustão substancialmente desprovida de NOx, em que o carburante é diesel ou óleo carburante pesado. 7
Acima, apenas foi mencionado um gás de chama fria produzido por um dispositivo de vaporização de chama fria. Uma chama fria é um método para obter um gás carburante parcialmente oxidado de entre vários outros gases carburantes parcialmente oxidados com as mesmas propriedades.
No seguinte, divulga-se uma forma de realização da invenção em detalhe fazendo referência às figuras anexas, em que A Figura 1 é um gráfico ilustrando a janela de funcionamento para o motor de ignição por compressão. A Figura 2 ilustra esquematicamente uma forma de realização da presente invenção.
Na figura 1 existe uma ilustração do trabalho realizado por Wârtsilâ num grande motor de navio de duplo carburante. Nesta figura, a janela de funcionamento é ilustrada na situação em que se pode ver que por se proporcionar uma mistura pobre de carburante e ar, a razão de compressão pode ser aumentada sem auto-detonação ou falhas de ignição.
Uma forma de realização da invenção é esquematicamente ilustrada na figura 2. Proporciona-se um dispositivo 40 de vaporização de chama fria, no qual um carburante é parcialmente oxidado em ar pré-aquecido para formar um gás de chama fria. 0 gás de chama fria resultante é um carburante gasoso, misturado de modo homogéneo.
Também se proporciona um fornecimento 50 de ar que está ligado ao dispositivo de vaporização de chama fria através de uma linha 42 de fluido. Proporciona-se um meio 41 de válvula para controlar o escoamento do ar a partir do fornecimento 50 de ar para o dispositivo 40 de vaporização de chama fria.
Também se proporciona um fornecimento 30 de carburante para o fornecimento de diesel ou óleo carburante pesado. O fornecimento 50 de carburante está ligado ao dispositivo de vaporização de chama fria através da linha 53 de fluido. O meio 56 de válvula controla o escoamento de carburante para o dispositivo 40 de vaporização de chama fria.
Uma linha 45 de fluido liga o dispositivo 40 de vaporização de chama fria a um motor 20 de ignição por compressão. O fornecimento 50 de ar ou, eventualmente, um fornecimento de ar diferente (não mostrado) também está ligado ao motor 20 de ignição por compressão. Antes de ser fornecido ao motor 20, o gás de chama fria é misturado com mais ar do fornecimento de ar. O meio 44 de válvula controla o escoamento do ar para o motor 20 de ignição por compressão, enquanto o meio 48 de válvula controla o escoamento de gás de chama fria do dispositivo 40 de vaporização de chama fria para o motor 20 de ignição por compressão.
Também se proporciona uma linha 52 de fluido, de tal modo que carburante do fornecimento carburante também possa ser fornecido directamente ao motor de ignição por compressão como uma chama 22 piloto. O meio 55 de válvula controla o escoamento do carburante do fornecimento 30 de carburante para o motor 20. 9
Na presente invenção o carburante é, por outras palavras, utilizado para proporcionar um gás de chama fria e para proporcionar uma chama piloto para garantir a correcta combustão da mistura de gás de chama fria e ar.

Claims (8)
- REIVINDICAÇÕES 1. Sistema de motor compreendendo - um motor (20) de ignição por compressão incluindo, pelo menos, uma câmara de combustão, - um dispositivo (40) de vaporização de chama fria no qual um carburante é parcialmente oxidado em ar pré-aquecido para formar um gás de chama fria, estando o dispositivo (40) de vaporização de chama fria em comunicação de fluido com a câmara de combustão do motor (20) de ignição por compressão, - meios (43, 44) para fornecimento de ar, de tal modo que o gás de chama fria possa ser misturado com o ar adicional entes de ser injectado na câmara de combustão, caracterizado por o sistema de motor compreender ainda meios para injecção de um carburante piloto na câmara de combustão, produzindo, desse modo, uma chama piloto na câmara de combustão que inflama a mistura do gás de chama fria e ar.
- 2. Aparelho de sistema de motor de acordo com a reivindicação 1, caracterizado por o sistema de motor compreender um reformador no qual o gás de chama fria é, pelo menos parcialmente, reformado para formar hidrogénio, tornando, desse modo, o carburante mais combustível. 1
- 3. Método para combustão substancialmente desprovida de NOx de um carburante num motor (20) de ignição por compressão incluindo, pelo menos, uma câmara de combustão, compreendendo o método os passos seguintes: - produção de um gás de chama fria a partir do carburante e ar pré-aquecido, - mistura do gás de chama fria com ar adicional, - injecção da mistura de gás de chama fria e ar na, pelo menos uma, câmara de combustão, caracterizado por o método compreender ainda o passo de proporcionar uma chama (22) piloto na câmara de combustão, injectando um carburante piloto, para a ignição da mistura do gás de chama fria e ar.
- 4. Método de acordo com a reivindicação 3, caracterizado por reformar, pelo menos parcialmente, o gás de chama fria para formar hidrogénio, tornando, desse modo, a mistura de carburante e ar mais combustível.
- 5. Método de acordo com a reivindicação 3 ou 4, caracterizado por utilizar o mesmo carburante para produção do gás de chama fria e da chama piloto. 2
- 6. Utilização do sistema de motor de acordo com uma das reivindicações 1-2, em que o carburante é diesel ou óleo carburante pesado.
- 7. Utilização do método de acordo com uma das reivindicações 3-5, em que o carburante é diesel ou óleo carburante pesado.
