Abstract

PURPOSE: Sealing structure for an automatic transmission is provided to reduce the entire length of the automatic transmission, to improve the durability, and to simplify the structure by reducing the number of sealings. CONSTITUTION: A sealing system for an automatic transmission is composed of a shaft(21) formed at the side of a rear cover with the linear outer periphery; a retainer(22) rotated and installed around the shaft; packing(23) fixed between the outer periphery of the shaft and the retainer and made of steel; and sealings(24) mounted in the outer periphery of the packing. Three sealings are arranged at regular intervals, and a hydraulic hole(25) is communicated in the packing and the retainer. The entire length of the automatic transmission is decreased by forming the shaft linearly, and the structure is simplified by reducing the sealing. Lowering of durability is restricted by mounting the steel packing.
