Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the contamination of a charging device and to increase the lifetime of a photoreceptor without using a corona discharger, a roller, a brush, etc., by tilting a part of a probe formed flexibly to the surface to be charged to secure a contact between them and applying the voltage. CONSTITUTION:A charger base 27 is loaded in an attachable and detachable way to a holder 24 which is set at the upper part of a photosensitive drum 4a and along the axial direction. A probe 33 is set at an attachment part 31 having a flat surface 29 and a slant surface 30 at the position opposite to a photosensitive layer 4 of the base 27. The probe 33 consists of hair matters 35 having the prescribed electric resistance, and the center part 36 of the probe 33 has a contact with the layer 4 to perform the charging. The both-end parts 37 are separate from the layer 4, and the discharging is caused between the parts 37 and the layer 4. As the layer 4 is turning to the charger, the photoreceptor 4 is uniformly charged in a short time.
