CONSTITUTION: This pin base material has a compsn. consisting of, by wt., C 0.35W0.45%, Si 0.15W0.50%, Mn 0.35W0.6%, P≤0.03%, S≤0.03%, Ni 3.0W 4.0%, Cr 1.0W1.5%, W 0.3W1.0%, V 0.3W0.6% and the balance Fe and impurities and optionally contg. Ti 0.2W0.6%. Steel products of this compsn. are formed into pins of a roller chain, subjected to carburizing or carburizing and nitriding, immediately hardened, and tempered to make the pins well withstand the impact in running.
