Abstract
1492720 Bolts CENTRE DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUES 10 May 1976 [14 May 1975] 19087/76 Heading F2H [Also in Division B3] The structure of a steel bolt in transverse cross-section comprises at least two coaxial zones, namely a first zone forming the surface layer of the bolt and consisting of tempered martensite and/or tempered bainite, and a second zone forming the core of the bolt and comprising mainly ferrite-pearlite. The core may contain a minor proportion of carbides. The bolt may further comprise, between the first and second zone, an intermediate zone consisting of iron-tempered bainite. Steel compositions consisting of C, Mn and Si with and without Nb are specified.
