Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the steel pipe of superior steam oxidation resistance free from cold stress by forming a grain refining layer of more than the specific thickness and in excess of grain size No.7 on the inside surface of the austenite base iron alloy pipe of the specific composition and subjecting to cold working and recrystallization treatment at high temperature. CONSTITUTION:The austenite base iron alloy pipe containing Cr; 15-26%, Ni; 8-35%, Si; 1% or under, Mn; 2% or under is treated like this: A grain refining layer in excess of grain size No.7 is formed over a thickness range of above 30mu on at least the inside surface side of the foregoing iron alloy pipe. Next, the foregoing iron alloy pipe having been formed with this grain refining layer is cold- worked and is further subjected to recrystallization treatment at above 950 deg.C, e.g., 1150 deg.C. Here, the steam oxidation resistance may be improved further by containing Ti; 0.6% or under or Nb; 0.1 or under further to the foregoing alloy pipe composition.
