Description
前記偏光子は、局地的に400nm〜800nmの波長帯域における単体透過度が80%以上かつ偏光度が20%以下の偏光解消領域と、単体透過度が45%以下かつ偏光度が99%以上の偏光領域とを含み、
前記偏光解消領域と前記偏光領域との境界の幅は5μm以上500μm以下であり、
前記偏光解消領域と前記偏光領域との境界の単体透過度が45%超過80%未満である偏光子を提供する。
ポリビニルアルコール系フィルム(日本合成社、M3000grade30μm)を、25℃の純水溶液で膨潤工程を15秒間経た後、0.2wt%の濃度および25℃のヨウ素溶液で60秒間染着工程を進行させた。以後、ホウ酸1wt%、45℃の溶液で30秒間洗浄工程を経た後、ホウ酸2.5wt%、52℃の溶液で6倍延伸工程を進行させた。延伸後、5wt%のKI溶液で補色工程を経た後、60℃のオーブンで5分間乾燥させることにより、厚さ12μmの偏光子を製造した。
前記製造例により製造された偏光子に、脱色溶液(脱色剤:KOH15%)をディスペンサを用いて3cm2の領域に塗布して、偏光解消領域を形成した。以後、35秒経過後、酸溶液として酢酸(大井化金(株)、10重量%、pH2.4)を用いて前記偏光解消領域を酸処理して、偏光解消領域を含む偏光子を製造した。
酸溶液としてアジピン酸(大井化金(株)、2.4重量%、pH2.8)を用いて洗浄したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で偏光解消領域を含む偏光子を製造した。
酸溶液としてホウ酸(大洋E&C(株)、5.7重量%、pH4)を用いて洗浄したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で偏光解消領域を含む偏光子を製造した。
酸溶液として乳酸(大井化金(株)、10重量%、pH1.9)を用いて洗浄したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で偏光解消領域を含む偏光子を製造した。
前記偏光解消領域を酸溶液を用いて酸処理するステップを行わないことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で偏光解消領域を含む偏光子を製造した。
酸溶液の代わりにエタノール(大井化金(株)、99%、pH5.9)を用いて洗浄したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で偏光解消領域を含む偏光子を製造した。
酸溶液の代わりにエタノール(大井化金(株)、10%、pH6.5)を用いて洗浄したことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法で偏光解消領域を含む偏光子を製造した。
前記実施例1〜4および比較例1〜3により製造された偏光子を40mm×40mmの大きさに切って、この試験片を測定ホルダに固定させた後、紫外可視光線分光計(V−7100、JASCO社製造)を用いて、脱色剤を用いて偏光解消領域の初期光学物性、すなわち、初期単体透過度、初期交差透過度、および初期偏光度を測定した。前記値はそれぞれ92.44%、85.4456%、0.1249%であった。
前記実施例1により製造された偏光子の領域別単体透過度を測定して、下記図1のグラフで示した。
Claims (2)
- ヨウ素および二色性染料のうちの少なくとも1つ以上が染着し且つ架橋剤を用いて架橋されたポリビニルアルコール系偏光子において、
前記偏光子は、局地的に400nm〜800nmの波長帯域における単体透過度が80%以上かつ偏光度が20%以下の偏光解消領域と、単体透過度が45%以下かつ偏光度が99%以上の偏光領域とを含み、
前記偏光解消領域と前記偏光領域との境界の幅は5μm以上50μm以下であり、
前記偏光解消領域と前記偏光領域との境界の単体透過度が45%超過80%未満であり、
100℃で100時間放置した場合、前記偏光解消領域の単体透過度の変化率が5%以下であり、
前記偏光解消領域の面積が0.01cm2〜5cm2であり、
前記偏光解消領域が前記架橋剤を含まず、
前記架橋剤がホウ酸であることを特徴とする、偏光子。 - 請求項1に記載の偏光子の少なくとも一面上に偏光子保護フィルムがさらに備えられたことを特徴とする、偏光板。
