図2Bに示されるように、シース12の径方向の拡張とともに、治療薬コーティング16は破断分離せしめられて粒子20(図2Aには示されていない)となる。粒子20はその後シース12から剥離し、放出かつ/または身体組織(例えば血管壁)上に直接適用されるようになる。粒子20の大きさは、治療薬を、賦形材料、例えば結合剤、可塑剤または増量剤と混成することにより調整されることも考えられる。例えば、治療薬を結合剤と混合することにより、治療薬コーティング16が破断分離せしめられてより大型の粒子となることも考えられる。別例として、治療薬を他の種類の賦形材料と混合することにより、コーティング16が破断分離してより小さな粒子となるようにすることも考えられる。ある場合には、治療薬コーティング16の剥離および粒子20の放出を促進するために、シース12が、低接着性のシランまたは上記フルオロポリマーエラストマーのような低接着性材料を使用して製造されることも考えられる。粒子20の大きさが、治療薬コーティング16の割線付けまたはパターン形成によって調整されることも考えられる。
Claims (12)
- 医療用デバイスであって、
ノンコンプライアントバルーンおよびセミコンプライアントバルーンのいずれかであるバルーンと、
前記バルーンの周囲に配置され、かつ、低接着性のシランおよびフルオロポリマーのいずれか一方を含んでなる拡張可能なシースと、
拡張可能なシースを覆って配置された、治療薬を含んでなるコーティングであって、前記バルーンが膨張すると、拡張可能なシースの拡張とともに、破断分離して剥離するように、拡張可能なシースよりも低い伸展性を有するコーティングと、
を備える医療用デバイス。 - 拡張可能なシースと治療薬を含んでなるコーティングとの間に配置された中間放出層をさらに含んでなる、請求項1に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 中間放出層は、糖、生分解性ポリマーおよびヒドロゲルのうちのいずれかを含んでなる、請求項2に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 拡張可能なシースは、前記バルーンが完全に膨張するにつれて直径が少なくとも1.5倍増大する、請求項1に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 拡張可能なシースの長さは前記バルーンの長さよりも短い、請求項1に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 拡張可能なシースの長さは前記バルーンの長さの20〜80%であり、該バルーンの一端または両端が拡張可能なシースによって覆われていない、請求項5に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 治療薬は結晶の形態である、請求項1に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 治療薬は結晶性パクリタキセルである、請求項7に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 拡張可能なシースの長さは、前記バルーンの両端が拡張可能なシースで覆われていない状態において該バルーンの長さよりも短く、前記バルーンは膨張するとダンベル形状を取る、請求項1に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 中間放出層は低接着性のシランおよびフルオロポリマーのいずれか一方を含んでなる、請求項2に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 拡張可能なシースは、前記バルーンの表面への付着部を有していない、請求項1に記載の医療用デバイス。
- 医療用デバイスであって、
ノンコンプライアントバルーンおよびセミコンプライアントバルーンのいずれかであるバルーンと、
前記バルーンの周囲に配置された拡張可能なシースと、
拡張可能なシースを覆って配置された、治療薬を含んでなるコーティングであって、前記バルーンが膨張すると、拡張可能なシースの拡張とともに破断分離して剥離するように、拡張可能なシースよりも低い伸展性を有するコーティングと、
拡張可能なシースと治療薬を含んでなるコーティングとの間に配置された、低接着性のシランおよびフルオロポリマーのいずれか一方を含んでなる中間放出層と、
を備える医療用デバイス。
