Claims (5)
- 内側面上にセグメント電極が形成された基板と内側面上にコモン電極が形成された基板との間に液晶が封入された液晶素子が複数個互いに積層されて構成されており、
前記セグメント電極が形成された基板と前記コモン電極が形成された基板とは、前記液晶が封入された状態で所定厚さに薄く加工されており、
多重構造液晶光学素子の側面上に複数の電極端子が設けられ、該複数の電極端子はそれぞれ、当該多重構造液晶光学素子の側面に印刷された導電層からなる側面端子部と、当該多重構造液晶光学素子の上面上における角部近傍に印刷され前記側面端子部に電気的に接続された所定面積の導電パターンからなる表面端子部とを備えていることを特徴とする多重構造液晶光学素子。 - 互いに積層されている前記液晶素子の液晶の配向方向は、互いに直交するように配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の多重構造液晶光学素子。
- 前記液晶は、透明な絶縁板により複数層に分割されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の多重構造液晶光学素子。
- 複数の液晶素子を切り出せる第1のガラス基板にセグメント電極を形成する第1の電極形成工程と、
複数の液晶素子を切り出せる第2のガラス基板にコモン電極を形成する第2の電極形成工程と、
前記セグメント電極が形成された第1のガラス基板と前記コモン電極が形成された第2のガラス基板との間に液晶を封入し前記複数の液晶素子を有する素子群用基板を形成する素子群組立工程と、
組立工程の後に、前記セグメント電極が形成された第1のガラス基板と前記コモン電極が形成された第2のガラス基板とを所定厚さに薄く加工する薄型加工工程と、
薄く加工された複数の素子群用基板を互いに積層する積層工程と、
積層された複数の前記素子群用基板を短冊又は単一の液晶素子に切断分離する切断工程とを備え、
さらに、前記短冊又は単一の液晶素子の側面に導電層を印刷し複数の側面端子部を形成する側面端子部形成工程と、前記短冊又は単一の液晶素子の表面に導電パターンを印刷し、前記複数の側面端子部にそれぞれ電気的に接続されておりそれぞれが所定面積を有する複数の表面端子部を形成する表面端子部形成工程とを備える
ことを特徴とする多重構造液晶光学素子の製造方法。 - 前記積層工程において、互いに積層されている前記液晶素子の液晶の配向方向が互いに直交するように配置されることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の多重構造液晶光学素子の製造方法。
