Description
米国特許3755499は、無機不透明顔料の添加の影響、またはここで開示された不透明微小空洞含有フィルムへの像様過熱の影響を明らかにできていない。
定義
本発明の開示において使用される用語「空洞」または「微小空洞」は、例えばポリエステルマトリックスと混合しない粒子に起因する空洞誘発粒子の結果として延伸中に配向ポリマーフィルムに形成されうるマイクロセル、微小クローズドセル、キャビティ、気泡、または細孔または多孔を意味する。空洞または微小空洞は、空気または何らかの気体で満たされていてもいなくてもよい。空洞または微小空洞は、最初は何も満たされていなくても、経時的に空気または何らかの気体で満たされることとなってもよい。
本発明の態様は、i)線状ポリエステルマトリックスを提供するためにイソフタレートモノマー単位のテレフタレートモノマー単位に対するモル比が少なくとも0.02である本質的にテレフタレート、イソフタレートおよび脂肪族ジメチレンからなるモノマー単位を有する少なくとも一の線状ポリエステル;ガラス転移温度が前記線状ポリエステルマトリックスよりも高い少なくとも一の非晶性高分子および/または前記線状ポリエステルマトリックスのガラス転移温度よりも高い融点を有する少なくとも一の結晶性高分子;および任意で、無機不透明顔料、白色剤、紫外線吸収剤、光安定剤、酸化防止剤、難燃剤、および着色剤からなる成分の群から少なくとも一の成分を、混練機または押出機内で混合する工程と;ii)工程i)で生成した混合物を厚いフィルムに形成して急冷する工程と;iii)厚いフィルムを、>4N/mm2の延伸力で初期長の少なくとも2倍に長手方向に延伸する工程と;およびiv)工程iii)で長手方向に延伸されたフィルムを初期幅の少なくとも2倍に幅方向に延伸する工程を含む、非透明微小空洞含有自己支持性フィルムの製造方法によって実現される。
可視フィルタを用いて透過率で測定される微小空洞によるフィルムの光学濃度は、比較値を提供するためにフィルムの厚さの関数として空洞形成成分を含まないフィルムの光学濃度を測定することで得られる。次いで、空洞(形成)による、可視フィルタを用いて透過率で測定されるフィルムの光学濃度(の差異)が、空洞誘発成分が添加された組成物を二軸延伸することと、長手方向および幅方向の引き伸ばし比率に基づいて予想されるフィルムの厚さに関する、空洞誘発成分を含まないフィルム組成物について可視フィルタを用いて透過率で測定される光学濃度から、可視フィルタを用いて透過率で測定される光学濃度を減算することとによって得られる。
本発明の当該方法の第18の実施態様によると、テレフタレートモノマー単位に対するイソフタレートモノマー単位のモル比は、少なくとも0.04、好適には少なくとも0.05、特に好適には少なくとも0.065、さらに好適には少なくとも0.075である。
本発明で用いられるポリマーフィルムで使用される非晶性高分子は、それが分散する、例えば線状ポリエステルなどの連続相のガラス転移温度より高いガラス転移温度を有する。例えばポリ(エチレンテレフタレート)は、約80℃のガラス転移温度を有する。
本発明のポリマーフィルムで使用される結晶性高分子は、例えば線状ポリエステルなどそれが分散する連続相のガラス転移温度より高いガラス転移温度を有する。融点が十分に高い結晶性高分子としては、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンおよびポリ(4-メチル-1-ペンテン)が挙げられる。
本発明の当該方法の第40の実施態様によると、フィルムはさらに、シリカ、酸化亜鉛、硫化亜鉛、リトポン、硫酸バリウム、炭酸カルシウム、二酸化チタン、リン酸アルミニウム、および粘土からなる群から選択される少なくとも一の無機不透明顔料を含む。二酸化チタンは、アナターゼまたはルチル形態を有してよく、および酸化アルミナまたは二酸化シリコンで安定化されてよい。リン酸アルミニウムは、非晶性中空顔料、例えばBUNGE社のBiphorTM顔料であってよい。
本発明の当該方法の第43の実施態様によると、白色剤の濃度は、≦0.5重量%、好適には≦0.1重量%、特に好適には≦0.05重量%、さらに好適には≦0.035重量%である。
本発明の当該方法の第45の実施態様によると、フィルムはさらに、臭素化化合物;有機リン酸化合物;メラミン;メラミン誘導体、例えば、ホウ酸、シアヌル酸、リン酸またはピロ/ポリ-リン酸などの有機または無機酸を有するメラミン塩、およびメラム、メレムおよびメロンなどのメラミン同族体;金属水酸化物、例えば水酸化アルミニウムおよび水酸化マグネシウム;ポリリン酸アンモニウムおよびホウ酸亜鉛、例えばxZnO.yB2O3.zH2O、例えば2ZnO.3B2O3.3.5H2Oの組成を有するものからなる群から選択される難燃剤を含有する。
本発明の当該方法の第46の実施態様によると、フィルムはさらに、有機スズ誘導体、立体障害フェノール、立体障害フェノール誘導体およびホスファイトからなる群から選択される酸化防止剤を含有する。
本発明の当該方法の第47の実施態様によると、フィルムはさらに、立体障害アミン光安定剤を含有する。
本発明の当該方法の第48の実施態様によると、フィルムはさらに、ベンゾトリアゾール誘導体およびトリアジン誘導体からなる群から選択される紫外線吸収剤を含有する。
本発明の態様はまた、本発明にしたがって製造された非透明自己支持性フィルムの画像記録素子における使用により実現される。
本発明の態様は、i)線状ポリエステルマトリックスを提供するためにイソフタレートモノマー単位のテレフタレートモノマー単位に対するモル比が少なくとも0.02である本質的にテレフタレート、イソフタレートおよび脂肪族ジメチレンからなるモノマー単位を有する少なくとも一の線状ポリエステル;ガラス転移温度が前記線状ポリエステルマトリックスよりも高い少なくとも一の非晶性高分子および/または前記線状ポリエステルマトリックスのガラス転移温度よりも高い融点を有する少なくとも一の結晶性高分子;および任意で、無機不透明顔料、白色剤、紫外線吸収剤、光安定剤、酸化防止剤、難燃剤、および着色剤からなる成分の群から少なくとも一の成分を、混練機または押出機内で混合する工程と;ii)工程i)で生成した混合物を厚いフィルムに形成して急冷する工程と;iii)厚いフィルムを、>4N/mm2の延伸力で初期長の少なくとも2倍に長手方向に延伸する工程と;およびiv)工程iii)で長手方向に延伸されたフィルムを初期幅の少なくとも2倍に幅方向に延伸する工程を含む方法によって製造された非透明微小空洞含有二軸延伸自己支持性フィルムへの加圧により随意に補助される像様加熱工程を含む、透かしパターン形成方法によって実現される。
本発明による非透明微小空洞含有軸方向延伸フィルムは、印刷用および他の用途のための合成紙として、LCDディスプレイおよび光起電装置のリフレクタとして、画像形成材料、例えばインパクトおよびノンインパクト(例えば電子写真、電送写真およびインクジェット)受け材料、フォトサーモグラフィック記録材料、実質的に感光性のサーモグラフィック記録材料、昇華型印刷、熱転写印刷等のための支持体として、例えばチケット、ラベル、タグ、IDカード、クレジットカード、法的文書、紙幣および包装における安全および偽造対策用途において使用することができ、また包装に組み込むこともできる。

二酸化チタン:65重量%TiO2および35重量%ポリエステルを含有するCLARIANT GmbH社のマスターバッチである、Renol(登録商標)-白色/PTX506
比較例1から3のフィルムの製造で使用した押出物の生成に使用したPETおよびSANの種類を表3に示す。表1に示した重量%でPET、SAN、TiO2およびUVITEX OB-oneを混合して真空下(<100mbar)で150℃で4時間乾燥し、続いて混合物をPET-押出機で溶融してシートダイから押し出し、冷却して、比較例1から3の押出物を生成した。

2重量%二酸化チタン、100ppmのUVITEX OB-one、および98重量%PET02の組成を有する比較例4の厚さ1083μmの押出物を、比較例1から3について記載したように生成し、マクベスTR924濃度計により可視フィルタを用いて透過率で測定した該押出物の光学濃度は1.35であった。表6に示した条件下で、比較例1から3に記載したように押出物を長手方向に延伸した。分解能1μm、精密度2μmおよび直径3mmの接触ボールを有するソニーU30A厚さ計を用いて0.8Nの測定力で16の異なる位置で上面を接触させて得られた測定値を平均化することによって、厚さ値を測定した。

いずれも2重量%の二酸化チタンおよび15重量%のSAN06を有する比較例5および本発明の実施例1から17の厚さ約1100μmの押出物を、表8に示した割合で表8の成分を混合し、次いで真空下(<100mbar)で150℃で4時間乾燥し、その後PET-押出機で溶融し、シートダイから押し出し、そして冷却することによって生成し、表8にまとめたように約1.3g/mLの密度と、イソフタレート(IPA):テレフタレート(TPA)比率を有する比較例5および本発明の実施例1から17の押出物を生成した。

2重量%二酸化チタン、100ppmのUVITEX OB-one[ppm]、15重量%SAN06、および83重量%PET04の組成を有し、IPA:TPA比率が0.0650の、実施例18の厚さ1100μmの押出物を、比較例1から3について記載したように生成した。表14に示した4組の異なる条件下で、比較例1から3について記載したように該押出物を長手方向に延伸した。予想厚さは、無空洞フィルムで観察される押出物の厚さおよび長さに基づく厚さである。

表17のデータは、延伸時間を30秒から10秒に減らすこと、および延伸速度を1000%/分から2000%/分に上げることがまた、空洞形成を促進することを示す。
表20にまとめたように、いずれも2重量%の二酸化チタンと、15重量%のSANまたは15重量%のABS(MAGNUM8391)、および異なる重量比のPET02およびPET04とを有する比較例6および本発明の実施例19から22の厚さ約1100μmの押出物を、比較例1から3について記載したように生成した。

IPA:TPAモル比が0.0636で、2重量%二酸化チタン、15重量%TPX(登録商標)DX820,ポリ(4-メチル-ペンテン)、33.3重量%PET2、および49.7重量%PET04を有する実施例26の厚さ約1100μmの押出物を、実施例1から58について記載したように生成した。表32に示した条件下で、実施例1から58に記載したように各押出物を長手方向に延伸した。予想厚さは、無空洞フィルムで観察される押出物の厚さである。

Claims (18)
- i)線状ポリエステルマトリックスを提供するためにイソフタレートモノマー単位のテレフタレートモノマー単位に対するモル比が少なくとも0.02である本質的にテレフタレート、イソフタレートおよび脂肪族ジメチレンからなるモノマー単位を有する少なくとも一の線状ポリエステル;ガラス転移温度が前記線状ポリエステルマトリックスよりも高い少なくとも一の非晶性高分子および/または前記線状ポリエステルマトリックスのガラス転移温度よりも高い融点を有する少なくとも一の結晶性高分子;および、無機不透明顔料、白色剤、紫外線吸収剤、光安定剤、酸化防止剤、難燃剤、および着色剤からなる成分の群から少なくとも一の成分を、混練機または押出機内で混合する工程と;ii)工程i)で生成した混合物をフィルムに形成して急冷する工程と;iii)フィルムを、>7N/mm2の延伸力で初期長の少なくとも2倍に長手方向に延伸する工程と;およびiv)工程iii)で長手方向に延伸されたフィルムを初期幅の少なくとも2倍に幅方向に延伸する工程を含む、非透明微小空洞含有自己支持性フィルムの製造方法。
- 前記幅方向の延伸が、>4N/mm2の力で実行される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記幅方向の延伸温度が、線状ポリエステルマトリックスのガラス転移温度を40℃以下超える、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- イソフタレートモノマー単位のテレフタレートモノマー単位に対するモル比が、少なくとも0.065である、請求項1ないし3のいずれかに記載の方法。
- イソフタレートモノマー単位のテレフタレートモノマー単位に対するモル比が、少なくとも0.11である、請求項1ないし4のいずれかに記載の方法。
- イソフタレートモノマー単位のテレフタレートモノマー単位に対するモル比が、0.50以下である、請求項1ないし5のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記フィルム中の均一に分散した前記非晶性高分子または前記結晶性高分子の濃度が、5から35重量%である、請求項1ないし6のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記非晶性高分子が、少なくとも一の連鎖重合ブロックを含む、請求項1ないし7のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも一の連鎖重合ブロックが、ポリスチレン、スチレンコポリマー、SAN-ポリマー、ポリアクリレート、アクリレート-コポリマー、ポリメタクリレート、およびメタクリレート-コポリマーからなる群から選択される、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記スチレンコポリマーが、SAN-ポリマーおよびABS-ポリマーからなる群から選択される、請求項9に記載の方法。
