Description
図1は、本発明の実施形態にかかる表示装置の概略構成を示す分解斜視図である。図1に示すように、本実施形態にかかる液晶表示装置1は、表示部である液晶パネル2と、この液晶パネル2で画像表示を行うために必要な透過光を照射する照明装置であるバックライト7とを備えている。なお、画像表示を行うための信号処理を行う映像表示回路や、アクティブバックライトとしてバックライトの部分部分の色合いや明るさを調整するための制御回路、駆動回路などは、図1では図示を省略している。
Claims (8)
- 異なる発光色の複数の発光素子を有する、平面上に配置された複数の光源を有し、
光源駆動信号に基づいて前記発光素子それぞれの輝度を制御することで、前記光源から照射される照射光の色と明るさとが制御可能な照明装置であって、
前記発光素子の点灯不良を検出する点灯不良検出部と、
前記光源駆動信号が前記点灯不良の発光素子に指示している輝度の大きさに基づいて、前記点灯不良の発光素子以外の他の発光素子の輝度補正の要否を判定する発光補正判定部と、
前記発光補正判定部の判定にしたがって、前記他の発光素子の輝度補正を行う発光補正部とを備え、
前記光源駆動信号が前記点灯不良の発光素子に指示している輝度の大きさが所定の閾値以下の場合には、
前記発光補正判定部が前記他の発光素子の輝度補正が不要と判定し、
前記発光補正部による前記他の発光素子の輝度補正を行わず、
前記光源駆動信号が前記点灯不良の発光素子に指示している輝度の大きさが所定の閾値よりも大きい場合には、
前記発光補正判定部が前記他の発光素子の輝度補正が必要と判定し、
前記発光補正部が、前記点灯不良の発光素子を有する光源の、前記点灯不良の発光素子以外の発光素子を非点灯とし、かつ、前記点灯不良の発光素子を有する光源の周囲に位置する他の光源が有する発光素子に対し輝度補正を行うことを特徴とする照明装置。 - 前記発光補正部による、前記点灯不良の発光素子を有する光源の周囲に位置する他の光源が有する発光素子に対する輝度補正が、前記点灯不良の発光素子を有する光源から照射されるべき照射光の色と同じ色の照射光を照射できる割合で、各色の発光素子の輝度成分を重畳するものである請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 前記発光補正部による、前記点灯不良の発光素子を有する光源の周囲に位置する他の光源が有する発光素子に対する輝度補正が、前記他の光源と前記点灯不良の発光素子を有する光源との距離が大きくなるにしたがって、前記輝度成分の重畳量が小さくなる請求項2に記載の照明装置。
- 前記所定の閾値が、輝度0である請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光源が有する前記発光素子が、赤色発光素子、緑色発光素子、および、青色発光素子を含んでいる請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。
- 前記発光素子が発光ダイオードである請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。
- 複数の前記光源が有する同じ発光色の前記発光素子の少なくとも一部が、複数個直列に接続されて一つの電流制御素子により駆動される請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。
- 表示部を備えた表示装置であって、
前記表示部には請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置からの光が照射されることを特徴とする表示装置。
